On behalf of the EMSB Directorate

We have received information from the Minister of Education updating the COVID-related directives that will be in effect in our schools, centres and the central office as on Monday March 7th, 2022.

  • Students in the elementary (Grades 1 to 6) and high school sectors must continue to wear the procedural mask during physical education, afterschool activities, in common areas and hallways, as well as on bus transportation.
  • The procedural masks may be removed by students, if they wish, in the elementary and high school sectors when they are in the classroom seated at their desk, as well as when they are seated during daycare hours.  However, this will not be the case if they have just come back from a COVID related absence (due to illness or a household contact who has been infected). In that case  they must adhere to a  five-day self-isolation period  and wear a mask at all times for five days after their return.
  • Procedural masks are not required (no change) for pre-school students in K4 and K5, except on bus transportation.
  • Students in AEVS (Formation professionelle and Formation générale), as well as all staff members, continue to wear the procedural mask.

We remind you to continue following public health guidelines, including proper hand and respiratory hygiene, distancing and monitoring of your child’s health condition.  Students who are presenting COVID-19 symptoms or who live in the same house as someone who has COVID-19 may not report to school and are strongly encouraged to use rapid tests.

To help you determine which self-isolation instructions apply to your situation, we invite you to use the self-assessment tool and consult Quebec.ca:

Rest assured that the safety of our students and staff is our priority, and all necessary sanitary measures continue to be in place in our schools.

We wish you and your family a safe and pleasant March break!
